We never see or store your card details
When you select Pay now, you’re taken to the secure payment page of our regulated payment service provider. Your card number, expiry date and security code are entered there and go directly to the provider. They never pass through, and are never stored on, our website or systems. We only receive confirmation that the payment succeeded, a transaction reference, the card brand and the last four digits.
Pay by bank (open banking)
You can also pay straight from your bank account. On the secure payment page you choose Pay by bank and your bank, and you are sent to your own banking app or online banking to approve the payment. Your banking login details stay with your bank: they never reach us or our payment service provider. We receive confirmation that the payment was approved, a transaction reference, and the account holder’s name and account details shared with the payment, so that any refund goes back to the same account. Pay by bank is available where your bank supports it.
How your payment is protected
- PCI DSS: payments are handled by a provider certified to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. Because card data never reaches us, our own website falls under the simplest PCI DSS self-assessment (SAQ A), which we complete every year.
- 3-D Secure: for card payments, your bank may ask you to confirm the payment in your banking app or with a one-time code. This protects you from unauthorised use of your card.
- Strong customer authentication: with Pay by bank, you log in and approve every payment with your own bank, using the security checks your bank sets.
- Encryption: our whole site uses HTTPS (TLS) encryption.
- Fraud screening: payments are checked for signs of fraud.
